Sneaky Squirrels

The squirrels in our neighborhood are fat and happy, thanks to my decorations I had on the front porch. This box was filled with mini pumpkins and gourds and even this last one in the picture is now gone. We got home today and they had VANISHED! I thought someone had stole them - on base, which is highly unlikely - but we caught the sneaky squirrels red-handed trying to take them! The picture below is what was left of one I found on the ground. Sneaky little bastards.

Our visit to Cripple Creek

We decided to check out Cripple Creek, a small and quaint village nestled in the mountains near our home. It's about an hour and a half drive, and almost 3500 feet higher. Typically there are a variety of historical things to do, but in the wintertime, it's mostly casinos. We didn't spend much time here, but the views along the way are breathtaking. We also stopped in Woodland Park on the way back to have lunch. It was a nice afternoon together.

Snowing and Sticking!

It's only Oct 28th and although we have already had snow - it hasn't stuck to the ground - until now. :) It will probably be gone tomorrow morning and it is supposed to be in the 70s again on Monday, but I had to post a couple pictures of our snow.

Deer!!

We were dropping off some paperwork at an office building in Colorado Springs and these deer were right next to the parking lot -- they weren't even afraid when we drove up! Mainers would be SO jealous!! Gotta love that deer steak!

Mommy's Bad Luck!

Decided to go out to do a little shopping today .... and just my luck, I get TWO flat tires! Hit something in the middle of the road and it took both driver's side tires out. No idea what it was - didn't even see it. I had both kids, neither had eaten lunch and one hadn't had a nap yet, can you say CRANKY? And after sitting for almost 2 hours, we get picked up by the tow truck and end up with a basic model rental until Monday - I MISS MY CAR!!

The Sweetest Thing

I just have to write a quick note to say that I have the most wonderful hubby in the world! He can never manage to surprise me and decided to do just that today. I had told him the other day that I wanted to go to the bookstore, but just couldn't go and 'browse' with the kids. So, he ordered me the Kindle from Amazon (Click on the link if you don't know what it is). And honestly, it's not what he bought or how much he spent or even that he managed to surprised me, but it was the thought that was so ridiculously sweet and he loved me that much to listen to the most mundane comment. To my hubby, in Olivia's words, "I so just love you."

Bowling with the Doehrings

Sunday was a cold day like Saturday, so we decided to do something indoors and the bowling alley on base has $1 games on Sundays. We went with our friends, the Doehrings, and spent a couple hours playing and having fun! Here's a couple pics.

Baking with Friends

Today was an absolutely FRIGID day! The high was only 25 and the morning frost never left the ground!! (Don't fret - it's supposed to be back in the upper 60s or lower 70s by Wednesday - Weird!!)
But we decided to make it an indoor day and invited Jenna (Judy's daughter) over to play - it was a fantastic day! We baked halloween cookies and decorated them and made mummy 'hot dogs' for lunch - the girls had a blast! They played all day, even bravely ventured outside for a little bit and ended the day with hot chocolate, whipped cream and marshmallows! And who'd have thought that staying indoors all day could be so much work?? I was exhausted by the end of the day, but it was totally worth it to see them have so much fun!
Here's a couple pictures....
