We finally are reconnected with the world - we spent the past 6 days without phone, cable or internet. Luckily I had my iPhone, which I had to take to Apple to get fixed the second day we were without services. You don't realize how much we rely on phone and internet to stay connected with the world or how difficult it can be NOT to have television. Although the latter is a luxury, I still hated missing my shows! But all is well now and we are back up and running - Hallelujah!

Time Change kicks butt...
This time change is really kicking Colvin's butt - he's been SO tired lately and here, he fell asleep right on the table during lunch. Poor little guy. I know how he feels. :)

Trip on the Royal Gorge Train
Today we took a ride on the Royal Gorge Train, which travels through the gorge over a thousand feet beneath the Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City, Colorado. It was a perfect fall day, warm enough that we could stand outside in the open car to take pictures and enjoy the brisk fresh air. All of us really enjoyed our trip, the culmination of Memaw's visit here. Definitely something to do again! What a great day! Take a look at the pictures.

Sneaky Squirrels
The squirrels in our neighborhood are fat and happy, thanks to my decorations I had on the front porch. This box was filled with mini pumpkins and gourds and even this last one in the picture is now gone. We got home today and they had VANISHED! I thought someone had stole them - on base, which is highly unlikely - but we caught the sneaky squirrels red-handed trying to take them! The picture below is what was left of one I found on the ground. Sneaky little bastards.

Our visit to Cripple Creek
We decided to check out Cripple Creek, a small and quaint village nestled in the mountains near our home. It's about an hour and a half drive, and almost 3500 feet higher. Typically there are a variety of historical things to do, but in the wintertime, it's mostly casinos. We didn't spend much time here, but the views along the way are breathtaking. We also stopped in Woodland Park on the way back to have lunch. It was a nice afternoon together.

Deer!!
We were dropping off some paperwork at an office building in Colorado Springs and these deer were right next to the parking lot -- they weren't even afraid when we drove up! Mainers would be SO jealous!! Gotta love that deer steak!

Mommy's Bad Luck!
Decided to go out to do a little shopping today .... and just my luck, I get TWO flat tires! Hit something in the middle of the road and it took both driver's side tires out. No idea what it was - didn't even see it. I had both kids, neither had eaten lunch and one hadn't had a nap yet, can you say CRANKY? And after sitting for almost 2 hours, we get picked up by the tow truck and end up with a basic model rental until Monday - I MISS MY CAR!!

The Sweetest Thing
I just have to write a quick note to say that I have the most wonderful hubby in the world! He can never manage to surprise me and decided to do just that today. I had told him the other day that I wanted to go to the bookstore, but just couldn't go and 'browse' with the kids. So, he ordered me the Kindle from Amazon (Click on the link if you don't know what it is). And honestly, it's not what he bought or how much he spent or even that he managed to surprised me, but it was the thought that was so ridiculously sweet and he loved me that much to listen to the most mundane comment. To my hubby, in Olivia's words, "I so just love you."
